Faviola Mendez
Faviola is a talented spanish speaking counselor who works with families, couples and individuals of all ages. Her approach is eclectic and uses what works for each person. Faviola is often called upon to provide counseling for parents when children are first seen. The goal of seeing parents is to help them understand their child’s diagnosis and help them to best manage the home environment to provide the child with extended therapy interventions in the home. At times she will see siblings both separately and together to help them understand the relationship between the two sibs and to best help them support each other. She can also be called upon to discuss and plan the future and how the impact of social services issues can affect them and how best to use the relationship to have the best outcome with situations like peer relationships and socialization situations later in school as they get older and develop.
She has special interests in treating neurodevelopmental disorders, autism spectrum, and special training in helping children. She comes to our practice with a background working with neurodevelopmentally disabled kids and adults. Those experiences translate into talking with a counselor who has a very deep patience. She is a counselor in training internship and supervised by Tim Jenkins, LCPC who supports and complements her experience with a background in art therapy interventions.
