Jenn Swanson
Jennifer Swanson is an associate counselor focused on creating relationships in an environment of warm acceptance and support where your feelings and your view of life are the most important things in counseling. Humans all have experiences that can cause stress, and may be severe enough to be called traumatic. At times those stressful things can be so impactful that you may need powerful support to manage your life.
Jenn's support is unwavering in kindness, and she focuses on the strengths and healthy perceptions you currently have and she also creates such a supportive environment that you will feel comfortable working on the hard things. Jenn has extensive experience working in the human services field helping people overcome sadness, stress, fears and substance use issues. She has expertise in autism spectrum issues and has specialties in assisting foster kids, pre-adoptive families, and persons who have been adopted or related to issues of reuniting with biological family.
Jenn's studies include a psychology degree and extensive experience with substance use issues. And having managed a social services department for adult and older adult populations gives her a depth of understanding of services available in the community. More recently, her work in case managing various populations has given Jenn the skill of deeper holistic understanding of a person's life. It is this skill that allows a deeper clarity when discussing your life with Jenn.
When asked about her priorities in providing counseling, Jenn stated, "It is important for me to meet clients where they are - and for that reason I am available in the evening and Saturday hours in Orland Park and Oak Lawn with no waiting."
Jenn is finishing her Masters and internship under the supervision of Tim Jenkins, LCPC and preparing to sit for her counseling license exam.
